Cat Tree Fractal Heavyweight T-Shirt

A cat whose ears grow cats.

Start with a cat's head. On each ear, place a smaller copy of the whole drawing, at a little over half the size. Do it again on their ears, and again, five generations deep, until the branches thin out into twigs. A self-similar fractal, and a literal cat tree.

The design

Printed across the back in charcoal, forest-green, sage and rust ink: the cat head is outlined in charcoal and its branching copies in green, sage and rust, with rust eyes. Above it the Nekomori wordmark and Field Equations / No.08 Cat Tree; below, 猫森 and the equation itself: C = H ∪ f₁(C) ∪ f₂(C),   f_i scales by 0.55. A small version of the drawing sits on the left chest.

The fit

Loose, with a dropped shoulder. Take your usual size for a relaxed fit, or size down for a closer one. A heavier cotton that holds its shape.

The blank

• 300 g/m² (8.8 oz) cotton
• 100% cotton
• Loose cut, drop shoulder, crew neck
• Sizes S–2XL
• Printed with DTF (direct-to-film) transfer

Field Equations is Nekomori's series of cats drawn by mathematics instead of by hand: each design is a single equation, rendered, then left alone. It continues from Quiet Forms: Field Note 01.
